
Byron Maldonado Photographer
Byron Maldonado was born in San Lucas Tolimán Guatemala. He has spent
the past 13 years documenting the daily life, customs, scenery, and people
of his country. His work has also emphasized social justice activism, particularly
among Guatemala's Mayan community. His work has been published in Guatemala
and shown in New York City and Miami, FL.
In addition to his own artistic portfolio, Byron has also done portraiture photography, both of groups and individuals. He also has experience in commercial photography, stock photography, sport photography, and events (including weddings, baptisms, and quinceñeras).
Byron currently works at the
University of Miami. He has photographed events for the President’s
Office, the Board of Directors, and the Provost’s Office. He travelled
to Haiti shortly after the 2010 earthquake to document the University’s
medical response efforts. On behalf of the University he has photographed
various politicians, including former President William Jefferson Clinton.
He has also photographed professional athletes from the Marlins and Miami
Heat, including Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Alonzo Mourning, and Chris Bosh.
